Urban Terror™ is a free multiplayer first person shooter, that (thanks to ioquake3) does not require Quake III Arena. It is available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh. The current version is 4.1.

Urban Terror can be described as a Hollywood tactical shooter; somewhat realism based, but the motto is "fun over realism". This results in a very unique, enjoyable and addictive game.

eChain Christmas CTF Cup

eChain admin wdp let us know the following:

eChain is doing a little Christmas CTF Cup from the 6th to 7th December this year. Every Clan is invited to have a bit fun. We try to have a very fast competition, thus we reduced the time from 20 to 10 minutes per Map.

Sign-ups are open now for the third 1v1 Tournament of Terror!

The tourney is open world-wide; each continent gets its own bracket, so the pings will be good. This time around we hope to add brackets for South America and Australia too.

Vote on the Urban Terror Speed Map Competition!

Urban Terror has just finished their first annual 9-day speed-map-a-thon. Level designers had to create a map from scratch in a very short time frame. This years theme was "super villain lairs" and a giant death ray model that none of them knew about until the competition started had to be included in their creation.

Now it's time for all of you to vote on your favourite map.

The submissions can all be found on the submissions thread. Please head on over to this forum thread and vote for your favourite map from the speed mapping competition.

New Custom Map Web Site

A Dutch member from our community has been working on creating his own site dedicated to Urban Terror maps. He had this to say:

I have been a fanatical Urban Terror gamer for years. My gameplay is passable, but the most important is to HAVE FUN. Every time I go into a Urban Terror server, it is most enjoyable. In the past I have tried many other online games, but I always come back to Urban Terror. The game is just perfect and it runs smoothly. Everything about Urban Terror is just perfect. That is my opinion anyway.

Why this site? It is my dream to have the biggest map-depot there is. Not just for myself, but for all the Urban Terror gamers. At the moment there are over 400 Urban Terror maps on my site. I have a Reseller with super speed. So maximum download speed!!! Test it and experience it for yourself.

I have extended my site with an Uploadlink. Here you can upload maps which are not yet in the map-depot up to 300Mb (5 maps at the same time). It would be great if all the Urban Terror gamers would cooperate. I will donate $1 to the Urban Terror development team for every new 100% playable map that is uploaded to my site. Help me and I'll help Urban Terror.

I wish all the Urban Terror gamers good gameplay. And don't forget: HAVE FUN.

Three Urban Terror Events Coming up

Two Open Cups (fall 2008) opened on ClanBase. Urban Zone started season 4 of their CTF league. [US] is having an Ibiza weekend. Go ahead and join the fun!

Organiser d_a_n_ from CB let us know the following via IRC: I hope we do get enough clans to run both cups at the same time. Also I hope to find another supervisor for CB UrT crew. Another organiser (Tidus) posted in our forums.

Organiser eya from Urban Zone let us know the following via the forums: Urban Zone is happy to announce that signups for SEASON 4 of the Urban Zone CTF League are now officially open. Just click sign ups in the League website. The new season will begin as soon as all teams are ready to play, most probably between the third week of September and first week of October. Watch our website and irc channel, we will keep you posted.

Another upcoming Urban Terror event is the [US] Ibiza weekend. A whole weekend full of fun and fight.
