| Sep 21, 2008. 8:31 PMjillgsays: it works great! but instead of a small paper clip i used a rubber band. it was easier to hold together than bend a paper clip
| I don't really understand what it means by slide the clips on top of eachother to make them interlock some 1 wanna help me
| this is awesome! i'm sitting here at my desk and i made one, i don't have any fishing line nearby, so i have to go to my room to get it =(
| im sure this is the reason they were invented, because someone was to lazy to go inside a building and go up an elevator/stairs.
| lol climbing up a wall is probably harder than stairs so i think it would be more for extremists ;)
| i cant figure out exactly what to do here i think you should upload a clearer picture
| I am making a knex fishing pole/thing grabber, and was possibly considering this for the hook. Would you mind if I provided a link to this instructable for the making of the hook part?

| sweet.!!!!!!!!!!!! how much free time do you have
| anyone that is a member on this site has infinite amounts of free time. trust me.
| nice but I made a stronger 1 out of and old plastic coated metal coat hanger
| Not bad, but i couldn't see too clearly on the second pic.
| i've got a great way to shorten this instructable......buy some string for 10 cents and tie it to ur door handle!
| yes but it would ruin the point of the grappling hook. duh
| damm funny!!!!!!rofl lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| Apr 19, 2007. 7:47 PMSESSsays: FrenchCrawler and Mutant are nerds
| That is really cool, but i can imagine the paper clips bending or breaking instead of closing a door.
| What is it with the grappling hooks? I've seen three at least, and they're all paper-clip based. I'm unsure as to the value of these (if any).
| hey french crawler you seem to get around really well on this website ur on every instructable ive looked at!!!
| Sep 14, 2006. 2:34 AMmikosays: that wont work, ud be pulling the wrong way to close the door
| Looking at the topmost picture, if he's sitting to the right side of the door, and if he pulls hard enough to get enough inertia, he could get that (heh-closet) door to close.
| Actually, if you look at his last step's pictures, he's using the hook to open the door.
| Oct 26, 2006. 1:13 AMmikosays: yer, thats what i mean by pulling the wrong way, you'd be pulling the door open not closing it
intriguing
| "Use to grapple stuff and finally open that door."
Read the last step.
| LOL. cool time-waster! Right up there with the coffe-stirrer-and-thumb-tack darts.
And FrenchCrawler... "Lighten up Francis!"
| Good job quoting from a movie...Except you forgot to mention the source.
Here's a link: http://www.willhines.net/spitemag/bile/francis.htm
There we go, now we all know where (what movie) you quoted from. It's always nice to give credit to the people who came up with the saying, if you yourself are going to use it.
| Could you include a video of you using this on the door? Cause I think it would be a little difficult to hook the handle with this kind of design (especially if you're sitting down like 3-4 feet away). Might just be easier to get up and close it...
| Or in some cases, reach over without getting up and closing it.
| It's cool...and it is possible to be able to close a door with it...especially if your are as bountyhunter savy as I.
...just don't let your boss find you wasting time with it...and never ever...make one for your co-workers who share an office with you...the results can be catastrophic...and along the lines of the boss returning and asking again "is this what I pay you for...get to work, fix up that server" *confiscate cool grappling hooks*
heh, he probably just didn't know how to make them himself ;-)
| lol.
Fishing line at the office
| Get a job. All of you. And give this poor guy a break, he's probably missing an arm.
| Wow, really? Or perhaps he's paralyzed from the waist down and that's why he can't get up?
If he was missing an arm, how did he bend the reinforcing wire around the hooks (or for that matter, how'd he bend all the other clips straight out)? Would be kind of hard with only one hand to do it with. I'm not saying that it's bad to have only one arm, but don't try to use handicaps to make excuses for others or yourself (especially if they're not true).
| hey i made these at work with a friend to over take another persons cube
| sorry to tell you. but the intro doesnt make much sense.
| He means: Need a grappling hook to close your door? Well instead of getting up, build a grappling hook to shut it for you.
| Too bad you have to walk over to unhook it :(
